KAILYARD CREATIONS USES SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES FOR eco-friendly, reusable and recyclable cards & papercrafts

I have always been drawn to and inspired by nature, so minimizing my ecological footprint is a big part of my personal life and business goals. I use sustainable materials and practices as much as possible, including the use of paper products made of FSC-certified fibres (Forest Stewardship Council®). combatting “throw-away” culture

All of the cards & papercrafts are designed and made with sustainable practices in mind. I use materials; such as, 80-110lb cardstocks and archival quality inks, so they can be displayed & enjoyed for a long time. Lots of people even frame them!

The bulk of my crafting supplies comes from either a small local woman-owned scrapbooking store and my favourite local Stampin-Up Demonstrator (home business).

The gift tags are designed to be reusable. Just replace the small slip of paper attached by the twine. Say good-bye to single use tags and say hello to a new family tradition. In fact, we have tags that have been making the rounds in our family for over 5 years now!

Packaging

getting crafty with kraft

I don’t use any plastic sleeves or bags as part of my packaging.

Each card ordered online comes with a Kraft A2 Envelope that’s made from recycled materials and are also 100% recyclable. They are also thick (150gsm) so fountain or calligraphy pens won’t bleed through.

For local & in-person sales, I use kraft retail bags that are made in North America with 100% recycled papers & printed with water based inks. I wanted them to be as reusable as possible so I fold the top, punch a hole then close it with bakers twine -no branding or tape involved.

Shipping

keeping it simple

The cards with their envelope are designed (and checked) to fit inside regular letter-mail parameters both in weight and thickness. This means you can use a regular stamp so no special trip to the Post Office is required.

Orders are packaged in eco-friendly rigid kraft mailers (locally sourced, made in North America, FSC®) or small boxes made right here in Victoria, BC. They both use 45-80% post-consumer recycled content, are 100% recyclable and are also perfect for reusing or re-purposing.
